We lost our 17-year-old Havanese in April. We began searching for a puppy in August. I interviewed several breeders around the US. I was very specific about what I looked for in a breeder. I wanted someone who had either shown the breed in the past or was currently showing. The puppies needed to be raised in the home, and the breeder had to have a solid relationship with a local vet. Finally, the breeder did not have a revolving door of litters, and we had to see both the sire and the dam. The breeder needs to be as thorough about who is receiving their puppies as we were about the breeder. Sandy was very easy to work with. She answered my endless list of questions. Once we settled on our puppy, she sent me weekly photos and updates. We traveled quite a distance to get a puppy from Sandy. We passed on many breeders between where we live and southern Indiana. We have had our puppy for a week, and I think I either have texted her or she has texted me every day. Our puppy has a sweet personality, and she came through her first visit with our vet with flying colors. I would highly recommend contacting Sandy’s Havanese if you are interested in the breed.
Adopting a dog from Sandy was a thoroughly loving and professional experience. She is a Great communicator, very timely & thorough with information and so caring. Sandy is raising healthy, smart and loving Havanese puppies AND taking great care of her adults dogs. So happy to have found such a responsible and delightful breeder.
